Over the last few summers I have had the opportunity to take a few backpacking trips up north. Back in 2012 I hiked along the Chattooga river in South Carolina. In 2013, it was Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia. This year I’m heading up to North Carolina to hike 30 miles of the Appalachian trail in the Nantahala Mountains.
My friend, Travis, and I will be starting at Rock Gap and continuing north to the Nantahala Outdoor Center. We got the idea for the trip from a blog post by the Wilderness Society where they listed 12 Appalachian trail section hikes. Originally the plan was to go in late June, but thanks to some last minute scheduling changes we were able to move the trip up to the first week of the month.
When I get back I will have a full post detailing the trip with photos and my gear list. I look forward to telling you all about it when I return!
